Obesity

Obesity is more common in industrialized countries, where only a few people do hard physical work and at the same time an abundance of food is available.
In industrialized countries, obesity is widespread and the modern slimness is considered as unaesthetic. The highest growth rates of overweight in the population, especially youth in the age group are found not in the mature industrial nations but in emerging countries. Accordingly, it is likely that the global obesity explosion is not yet subject to the next generation. The prevalence of obesity, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in Germany started only during the period of 1984-1998. The proportion of obesity increases from the population of overweight, so if the percentage of obesity is estimated at 20% and obesity by 5%, then 20% - 5% = 15% of people who have a BMI of 25-30. This data is based on physical examinations and recent data were collected through telephone surveys. According to the data, based on the values of the federal health surveys in 1998 and the surveys of the German Cardiovascular Study (DHP), an increase of obesity is mainly observed in the age group of 25-34 years old subjects, both male and female sex. In the period 1984-1998 the percentage increased in both sexes by approximately 7%. All other age groups remained relatively stable.
