Step 5 : Duplicate again
Don’t confuse this with the duplication you carried out in the Step 3. This duplication of the original image is to apply effect. So just click on the layer and drag it to the new layer icon on the bottom of the layer palette in the bottom of the screen. This will create a duplicate copy just above the original layer.
Step 6: Blur
Now select the topmost layer and then Go to Filters>Blur>Gaussian Blur. Set any desired value for the blur. But most of the times a value of four will work fine. Now if you see the image, it would be a little blurred. Don’t get panic as we are going to fix this in next step.
Step7: Eyes
Choose the eraser tool. Select the opacity to 50% and clear the areas above the eyes and lips. This step is necessary because when someone views a picture they intend to see the eyes first. The focus of the portrait is always the eyes. So care should be taken to ensure that the eyes are more sharper than the rest of the image. But at the same time to preserve originality don’t erase fully (Ensure the opacity is set to 50%, stick to it)
